American Airlines matches United

Published on .

Fort Worth, Texas--It didn’t take long for American Airlines to respond to United Airlines' “Fly Three, Fly Free” promotion aimed at business travelers and Mileage Plus customers. UAL Corp.’s United launched its program last Wednesday, and AMR Corp.’s American launched its own promotion on Friday, offering AAdvantage members a fourth flight free after three previous flights. An American ad in Monday's New York Times, just a few pages from a United ad, promoted the promotion with the headline, “Fly. Fly. Fly. Free.”
