New York—A survey conducted by American Express OPEN found that 59% of women-owned businesses expect their businesses to grow over the next six months. The study, “The American Express OPEN Mindset Survey,” was based on an online survey of more than 300 female small-business owners, conducted in August. The results were released at OPEN for Women: CEO Bootcamp, an inaugural event by American Express OPEN on Sept. 20 that attracted more than 1,000 female entrepreneurs. According to the survey, 74% of female small-business owners responding started their businesses from scratch, and 77% ranked themselves as “excellent” in at least one area of expertise. However, only 54% of respondents considered themselves a success in business performance; 49% considered themselves to be excellent decision-makers.
