New York--As reported in the Oct. 25 issue of Advertising Age,
the Interpublic Group of Cos. officially announced Friday that Ammirati Puris Lintas will merge with Lowe & Partners Worldwide. The merger will create a new agency to be called Lowe Lintas & Partners Worldwide, which will have billings of more than $11 billion, ranking it among the world's top five agencies. Frank Lowe has been named chairman-CEO of the new company. In the wake of the deal, Martin Puris, chairman-CEO and chief creative officer of Ammirati Puris Lintas, resigned, and in a statement he implied that he wanted to pursue Internet opportunities as an entrepreneur. Business-to-business accounts of the new agency include Dell Computer Corp., United Parcel Service of America, PricewaterhouseCoopers and ZDNet.
