Annual conference slated for Charleston

Published on .

ABM's Annual Conference will be held next year in Charleston, S.C., May 2-4. The conference was initially scheduled for the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess in Arizona May 2-5, but ABM canceled its reservations to trim expenses, said Gordon T. Hughes II, president-CEO of the association. Due to sparse attendance related to the economic downturn, this year's annual conference, which was held in May in Amelia Island, Fla., generated just $195,625 in revenue. That was a steep decline from the 2008 annual conference, which generated $471,200, according to ABM's annual report. Next year's event will be held at the Charleston Place Hotel. “We've negotiated a great group rate of $199 a night, and we think our members are going to be highly responsive to that,” Hughes said. M
