AOL markets new security software suite

Dulles, Va.--America Online, a wholly owned subsidiary of Time Warner, on Thursday announced it has launched AOL 9.0 Security Edition, its latest suite of software that provides several safety and security features designed to protect customers online. The Security Edition is built on AOL 9.0 Optimized and is the first version to focus specifically on security. The new edition will be promoted as part of AOL's current "Commitments to Members" marketing campaign, which includes TV ads and online promotions, as well as point-of-sale CD distribution. Included in the security package are McAfee VirusScan Online, a virus protection program; McAfee Personal Firewall Express, to protect against hackers; AOL SpyZapper, which detects spyware on the user's computer; spam control tools; new protections against instant message spam; Money Alerts, which notify customers of any unauthorized bank account or credit card activity; and Parental Control, to protect families who use the Internet.
