AOL, Yahoo lead Web visitor rankings

New York--The top three Web properties in September in terms of unique visitors at home and at work, were the AOL Network (52.42 million unique visitors), Yahoo! sites (38.40 million) and Microsoft sites (35.37 million), according to Internet ratings service Media Metrix. Technology portal ZDNet, Ziff-Davis' online business unit, saw its ranking jump up two notches from 17 to 15 between August and September as its unique visitors increased from 8.55 million to 8.64 million. Competing technology portal CNET, which is in the process of redirecting its $100 million marketing campaign, moved up in the rankings from 18 to 17, while its unique visitors fell from 8.51 million to 8.33 million.
