Sunnyvale, Calif.—Despite increasing sales of competing mobile devices, Apple Inc. smartphones and tablets are overwhelmingly the platforms of choice for business apps, according to a report from wireless data management company Good Technology.
The report, “Mobility Index Report for Q2 and Q3 2013,” found that Apple's iPhones and iPads accounted for 95% of all business app activations in this year's third quarter. Among tablets—most popular in financial services, the professions and manufacturing, Good Technology said—Apple's iPad accounted for 90% of app activations during the third quarter, while tablets running Google's Android operating system activated the remainder, according to the report.
The most rapid growth in enterprise apps is being driven by the adoption of custom enterprise applications, which increased 52% quarter over quarter. Good Technology's report is based on an analysis of the mobile device activities of more than 5,000 of the company's customers using all devices worldwide.
