Ariba to integrate global services from ClearCross

Ariba Inc. will integrate global e-commerce services from ClearCross Inc., New York, into its marketplace platform. ClearCross offers a variety of services that help businesses calculate the costs of doing global business. For example, the company offers an engine that calculates so-called ``landed-costs,'' or the total cost of shipping a good overseas, including duties, tariffs and other expenses. ClearCross delivers this and other services in real-time to buyers, sellers and Net marketplaces. For Ariba, Mountain View, Calif., the deal follows two trends: the addition of value-added services to its core b-to-b platform and an increasing global focus. ClearCross changed its name from Syntra earlier this month.
