Ariba, Oracle beef up purchasing platforms

Published on .

Mountain View, Calif.--Ariba announced Thursday a key partnership with an Internet service provider to rent software services, while Oracle Corp., Redwood Shores, Calif., added a supplier to its mounting online sales network. Ariba announced USinternetworking, Annapolis, Md., will be its preferred provider of hosted purchasing services, meaning companies can subscribe to purchasing software rather than buy them outright. The move lowers the barrier of entry for many unwilling to spend $1 million to $3 million for an in-house software. Oracle said corporate printing supplier K/P Corp., San Ramon, Calif., will be one of 270 vendors selling on its competing supplier network, announced in July.
