Audi institutes advertising portal

Published on .

Edison, N.J.-based Audi of America Inc. confirmed Tuesday that it has set up an Internet site designed to distribute advertising to 300 dealers in North America. The auto manufacturer said it used software and services from SeraNova Inc., Edison, N.J., to launch the system in less than a month. The Web-based system replaces periodic distribution of marketing and advertising materials via CD-ROM. Audi's move underscores a trend by major companies to use the real-time properties of the Internet to quickly distribute advertising materials and police consistency of the brand. Royal Dutch/Shell Group of Cos. has deployed a similar system on a global basis.
