B-to-b e-commerce expected to surge

EMarketer Inc. says worldwide b-to-b e-commerce will grow to $2.7 trillion by 2004, rising from $226 billion reported for 2000. The research company predicts old-line global companies will fuel the boom. The report said only 8% to 10% of the largest 5,000 corporations had deployed Internet purchasing software, and that 74% of all large companies planned to meet or exceed 2000 expenditures on information technology in 2001.
