B-to-b exchanges show growth

Published on .

New York--Many b-to-b exchanges experienced revenue growth in 2002 and are expected to grow this year as well, according to eMarketer's "E-Commerce Trade and B2B Exchanges" report.

EMarketer predicted worldwide b-to-b e-commerce revenues will reach $1.41 trillion this year, with the U.S. accounting for more than half of that, at $721 billion. By 2004, the U.S. will account for $1.01 trillion of the worldwide $2.37 trillion total, eMarketer predicts.

"Industry leaders from the technology industry have led the way in developing independent e-commerce initiatives, due in part to their comfort level with technology and general technical readiness," said Steve Butler, eMarketer senior analyst, in a statement. In addition, 67% of b-to-b exchanges surveyed by eMarketect/Open Network for Commerce Exchange said they met or exceeded revenue goals for 2002.
