B-to-b magazine ad pages, revenue down through September

New York—Ad revenue for b-to-b publications dropped 1.9% through September compared with the same period in 2006, according to the latest Business Information Network report from American Business Media. Ad pages declined 3.2% during the same period.

However, overall revenue through September for b-to-b media rose 3%, fueled by a 20% increase in digital revenue and a 9.7% increase in trade show revenue. For b-to-b print products, the hardest-hit ad categories through September were Computing, Software, Telecommunications (down 11.3% in ad pages and 17.5% in ad revenue) and Business, Advertising & Marketing (down 7.1% in ad pages, 9.9% in ad revenue).

Ad categories posting revenue gains were Architecture, Design & Lighting (up 9.8%), followed by Resources, Environment & Utilities (up 9.3%), Science, Research & Development (up 8.3%) and Transportation & Logistics (up 4.5%).
