More b-to-b magazines launch this year

Published on .

New York—Sixty-two b-to-b magazines launched this year, up from the 34 titles that debuted in 2010, according to MediaFinder.com, an online database of U.S. and Canadian publications. In the same timeframe, the number of shuttered magazines decreased to 38 this year from 47 in 2010.

Including consumer publications, 239 magazines launched this year compared with 193 in 2010. Just 152 magazines folded this year compared with 176 in 2010.

“New magazines continued to launch in 2011 despite the economy and bleak predictions for the magazine industry,” said Trish Hagood, president of MediaFinder.com, in a statement.
