B-to-b media veteran Steinert-Threlkeld dies

New York—Veteran business journalist Tom Steinert-Threlkeld, who joined IBT Media in June as editorial director for b-to-b publishing, died Sunday from injuries suffered in a bicycling accident near his home in Connecticut. He was 59. On Sept. 17, Steinert-Threlkeld oversaw the launch of IBT's first b-to-b media website, CruxialCIO. Prior to joining IBT, he was the editorial director of SourceMedia's Money Management Group. He previously was editorial director of the TV Group at Reed Business Information, overseeing Broadcasting & Cable and Multichannel News. In 2001, he was the founding editor of Ziff Davis Media's Baseline magazine, which won the Grand Neal Award from American Business Media in 2005. BtoB's Media Business named him to its inaugural group of Top Innovators in Business Publishing in 2004. Steinert-Threlkeld began writing on business and technology in 1979 for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and later joined the Dallas Morning News.
