Chicago--Bill Furlong, president-CEO of B2Bworks, said Monday that he is resigning from the company he founded four years ago, disputing the characterization that he was ousted by the company's board on Mar. 18.

Karen Breen Vogel is assuming the role of CEO.

“It’s just time to move on,” Furlong said. “It’s time to catch my breath. I wish these guys the best.”

B2BWorks is a marketing services firm that aggregates scores of b-to-b Web sites, allowing marketers to target a broad swath of industries through a single service.

Furlong remains a significant shareholder in the company. Co-founder Bill Walker remains with B2Bworks as exec VP.
