Bart named VP-editorial director for ‘Variety’ brand

Los Angeles—Peter Bart, the longtime editor in chief of Variety, will assume a new role as VP-editorial director of the brand, according to a story published Sunday in Daily Variety.

In his new position, Bart will report directly to Tad Smith, CEO of Reed Business Information, “assisting him in furthering Variety’s editorial mission in print and online and expanding the brand’s position in new revenue streams,” the story said. Bart also will continue to contribute his weekly column as well as his blog. Tim Gray, Variety’s editor, will have complete responsibility for Variety’s news operations.
