Beckman named head of Fairchild Fashion Group

By Published on .

New York—Condé Nast, a unit of Advance Publications, announced Wednesday that Richard D. Beckman has been named president-CEO of the company’s Fairchild Fashion Group, which publishes WWD.

Beckman, who had been president of the Condé Nast Media Group, succeeds Daniel Lagani, who is leaving the company. In his new role, Beckman will be responsible for all the Fairchild Fashion Group, which also includes Footwear News, Fairchild Summits, Fairchild Books and Fairchild Classified.

The move is seen as a sign that Condé Nast is placing greater emphasis on its trade publications. “Richard has strong relationships in the fashion, beauty and retail communities both here and abroad, and he is one of the most creative minds in the media business,” Charles Townsend, president-CEO of Condé Nast, said in a statement. “This position provides him with a unique platform to realize our vision for the FFG franchise worldwide.”
