New York—Prometheus Global Media has named Joe Levy, former editor at Blender
and Rolling Stone
, editor in chief of Billboard
, according to various media reports. Levy, who will officially join the brand on Friday, succeeds Danyel Smith, who left earlier this month.
Lisa Howard, formerly the publisher of Billboard
, also left the brand in recent weeks. A successor for Howard has not been named. Levy will report to Billboard
Editorial Director Bill Werde.
Prometheus has hired editors with consumer magazine backgrounds with mixed results. Michael Wolff had a short tenure at Adweek
, while Janice Min's time as editorial director of the Hollywood Reporter
has met with greater success, industry observers said.
