'Billboard' names Levy editor in chief

Published on .

New York—Prometheus Global Media has named Joe Levy, former editor at Blender, Maxim and Rolling Stone, editor in chief of Billboard, according to various media reports. Levy, who will officially join the brand on Friday, succeeds Danyel Smith, who left earlier this month. Lisa Howard, formerly the publisher of Billboard, also left the brand in recent weeks. A successor for Howard has not been named. Levy will report to Billboard Editorial Director Bill Werde. Prometheus has hired editors with consumer magazine backgrounds with mixed results. Michael Wolff had a short tenure at Adweek, while Janice Min's time as editorial director of the Hollywood Reporter has met with greater success, industry observers said.
