Bing announces partnerships with Twitter, Facebook for real-time search

Redmond, Wash.—Microsoft’s Bing search engine has announced new deals with Facebook and Twitter to bring social media updates as well as tweets to search query results in real time.

The Facebook partnership will provide searchers with status updates about Facebook members that make those updates public. Microsoft is an investor in Facebook.

For Twitter, Bing’s search results will take into account not only a tweet’s content but also its popularity. Instead of showing all search results as is typical with usual queries, Bing will display the top two tweets that reflect common shared sentiment.
