Blackfriars sets marketing index at 140

Maynard, Mass.—Blackfriars Communications, a marketing consulting and research firm, announced that it has set the Blackfriars Marketing Index at 140 for the second quarter. That reading indicates that companies expect to spend 40% more on marketing during the second quarter than they did in the average quarter in 2003, the benchmark year. The index is based on a survey of more than 300 senior business executives across industries.
