Blackout prompts Thomson to print double issues of dailies

Published on .

New York--Thomson Media Group on Monday published double issues of its daily newspapers Bond Buyer and American Banker after last week's blackout prevented the printing of Friday's editions.

Backup power and access to servers in Chicago and Bethesda, Md., enabled the company to produce the Web versions of the content on Friday. To accommodate advertisers, Thomson decided to print double issues of the two newspapers on Monday.

“Thursday was the worst possible time for this [blackout] to happen to us, because we publish our weeklies on Thursday night and we were putting out a couple of monthlies, too,” said BruceMorris, exec VP-Thomson Media Group.
