Blog search company Technorati buys Blogcritics.org

Published on .

San Francisco—Blog search technology company Technorati Media has acquired Blogcritics.org, an online community of some 2,000 bloggers and authors who contribute a variety of news items, opinion and product reviews on entertainment, technology and politics.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Blogcritics provides bloggers with an entry point to publish their content to a much broader audience. The two companies said the acquisition will enable the Blogcritics community to grow and attract new audiences.

Technorati will devote resources to scale Blogcritics and its operations, and will work with Blogcritics authors to monetize their blogs. The company said this will enable advertisers to run more fully integrated programs across the site and its related blogs.

Technorati’s acquisition also includes Blogcritics own properties, including Desicritics.com, a South Asian blog and author community, and Glosslip.com, a celebrity and entertainment blog.
