Top achievements of 2008: IDG's transformation to a "Web and events media and marketing company" from a traditional publishing company accelerated this year as more than half the company's U.S. revenue came from nonprint sources, said Carrigan, who was promoted from CEO of IDG Communications U.S. to worldwide CEO in April. Because lead-generation services such as IDG Connect and IDG Market Fusion "feature innovative targeting of well-defined prospects and key insights into buyer preferences and behaviors, they contributed to a significant expansion of performance-based marketing programs," he said.
Top priorities for 2009: "Marketers will expect, and IDG will deliver, programs that support sales and business activities for technology vendors," Carrigan said. "Performance-based marketing programs and ROI for marketers will drive business next year. We will focus on innovation and marketing services that meet or exceed customer requirements in the increasingly digital and mobile worlds." As IDG expands globally, the distribution of IDG news and information, as well as the IDG TechNetwork, will grow, he added.
