Chicago--The Boeing Co. Wednesday ran three-page ads in The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Financial Times and elsewhere promoting its new 7E7 Dreamliner commercial aircraft.

Boeing is also running TV spots that will appear through Dec. 21 on “Meet the Press,” CNN, Fox News Channel and other stations.

The ads debuted the day after Boeing officially announced that it will proceed with sales of the aircraft to airlines.

The print ads, which appeared on the 100th anniversary of the Wright Brothers' first powered flight, opened with a visual of their Kitty Hawk airplane accompanied by the headline, “The next century of flight is waiting in the wings.”

On the next page, the visual was an illustration of the 7E7 with the headline, “And what amazing wings they’ll be.” The copy trumpeted, “A clean flying airplane. A quieter flying airplane. A dramatically more efficient airplane.”

Boeing forecast a need for between 2,000 and 3,000 airplanes in the 7E7's market segment over the next 20 years.
