Boeing mulls branding campaign

Chicago--The Boeing Co., Seattle, is mulling a branding campaign to be launched later this year. At a press conference Thursday, after his speech to the Chicago Executives' Club, Philip Condit, chairman-CEO of Boeing, indicated a branding campaign is in the offing, saying, ``Boeing is a great brand, it is one of our key assets. Clearly we need to build on that brand. You're going to see us doing things in the future to build our brand." McCann-Erickson Worldwide's Los Angeles office handles the Boeing account. Mr. Condit also said Boeing's e-commerce activity, which focuses mainly on the selling of parts over the Internet, doubled in 1999 over 1998 and that the company would be launching further e-commerce initiatives in 2000.
