Boston--Business-to-business e-commerce will expand to $4.8 trillion in transaction value by 2004, according to a new report by Boston Consulting Group. That number compares with a projected $1.2 trillion this year, according to the firm. The report, based on survey responses from 260 b-to-b buyers, said a winnowing out of b-to-b exchanges is imminent. More than half of those surveyed said they expect to work with only a few e-marketplaces in each sector.
