Briggs resigns from CNET

Published on .

New York—CNET Networks said Monday that Barry Briggs has resigned as president-COO to pursue other opportunities. The company, which operates technology news Web sites, said it has no plans to replace him at this time. Briggs' resignation will be effective Jan. 12. He joined CNET in 2000 following the company's acquisition of ZDNet, where he served as president. Before he joined ZDNet, he worked for Sports Illustrated, Time and FamilyPC. The announcement of Briggs’ departure came two months after CNET chairman-CEO Shelby Bonnie resigned because of his role in the company's backdated stock options controversy.
