Brill sells Inside.com to Primedia

Published on .

New York--Ending one of the more complicated media partnerships in recent years, Brill Media Ventures severed its ties with Primedia Inc. on Monday. Under the terms of the agreement, Primedia will continue to own and control its Media Central business--an agglomeration of Primedia's old and new media products online--and will purchase the Inside.com Web site from Brill Media Ventures, which is controlled by media magnate Steve Brill. The purchase price was not disclosed. Brill will stay on for the rest of the year to help with the transition. He has also reportedly told his staff that he will suspend operations of Brill's Content, which launched to great fanfare in the summer of 1998 but has since found it difficult to build an audience. The monthly was dialed back to a quarterly a few months ago.
