Brown to succeed Keith Crain as publisher of ‘Automotive News’

Published on .

Detroit—Keith Crain, chairman-CEO of Crain Communications Inc., announced Monday in an internal memo that he will step down as publisher of Automotive News, effective Jan. 1.

He will be succeeded by Peter Brown, who will move from associate publisher to publisher-editorial director of Automotive News. Crain will continue to serve as editor in chief of Automotive News and to write his weekly column. He has held the title of Automotive News publisher since Crain Communications acquired the newspaper from Slocum Publications in 1971.

Brown joined Automotive News as editor in February 1989 and was named associate publisher in 1992. “I know that the Automotive News brand is in excellent hands and will continue its record growth with Peter as publisher,” Crain wrote in the memo.
