Previously, Schenkman was chief operating officer of Brut ECN's rival, New York-based Instinet Corp. Brut ECN, which processes about 50 million trades daily, is jointly owned by large financial companies including Merrill Lynch & Co., Goldman Sachs & Co., Morgan Stanley Dean Witter & Co. and Bear Stearns & Co.
