IT budgets forecast to grow 5.2%

Published on .

Framingham, Mass.--Information technology budgets are expected to grow 5.2% over the next 12 months, according to the latest CIO Magazine Tech Poll. Security software is the strongest sector in the poll, with about 52% of respondents planning to increase spending in this area in the coming year. Poll respondents indicated that they planned to purchase about 22% of their materials, supplies and parts over the Internet in the coming 12 months, compared with about 18% over the past 12 months. Additionally, in what may be good news for Dell, Hewlett-Packard and Gateway--and perhaps for the tech media sector--41% of poll respondents said they expected to replace a “significant number of PCs” in the next six months.
