Burst! Media examines at-work Internet usage

Burlington, Mass.—According to a study of Internet usage at work by Burst! Media, 32.3% of men between the ages of 25 and 34 said they spend three or more hours a day on the Internet at work.

The study also found that 24.9% of women between the ages of 25 and 34 spend three or more hours a day on the Internet at work.

The study was based on a survey of more than 10,000 Internet users at work.

Among other key findings: 40% of respondents said they have used the Internet while at work to look up information on a product, and 37.4% said they have purchased a product online while at work.

When asked what types of Internet activities they conduct at work, the most popular activities were sending e-mail to a friend or family member (59.9%), checking local or national news (53.9%), checking weather information (41.0%), checking entertainment schedules (32.4%) and conducting online banking (30.9%).
