parent company, The Future Network plc, said Friday that it was closing the U.K., German and Italian editions of the magazine, resulting in the loss of about 80 jobs. The publications had a combined monthly circulation of 100,000. The shutdowns come as The Future Network continues to negotiate with a possible buyer--rumored to be Time Inc.--for the title. Tech publications Red Herring
and The Industry Standard
have also scaled back their European operations amid a declining ad market.
