Business magazine ad pages fall in first quarter

New York—Magazine advertising pages fell to 37,196.43 in the first quarter, a 25.9% drop compared with the same period last year, according to Publishers Information Bureau statistics released Tuesday.

Business magazines were hit especially hard. Entrepreneur performed the best of the group, with its ad pages declining 11.2% in the first quarter. Forbes (-15.0%) and The Economist (-18.8%) also performed better than average. Fortune (-26.3%), Fast Company (-28.8%), Barron’s (-29.2%), BusinessWeek (-39.8%) and Inc. (46.7%) all performed lower than average.
