BusinessBolts survey finds 74% of small businesses use content marketing

Thornton, Colo.—Seventy-four percent of small businesses use content marketing to increase traffic and promote their brands, according to a new report from content marketing company BusinessBolts.com. “Content Marketing Survey Report 2013” was based on an online survey of 265 small-business owners and marketing executives at small businesses conducted in the fourth quarter. It found that respondents said the top types of content marketing used were: articles (74%), blog posts (64%), social media content (49%), email newsletters (41%), videos (38%) and infographics (33%). The chief benefits of content marketing included increasing traffic (77%), improving search rankings (71%), growing the brand (70%) and boosting sales (59%). Also, 45% of respondents said using content marketing has helped them lower advertising expenditures.
