‘BusinessWeek’ kills its Chicago edition

New York—BusinessWeek said it has shuttered BW Chicago, a monthly controlled-circulation business magazine for the Chicago area. BtoB sibling Crain’s Chicago Business said that according to several people familiar with the situation, slow ad sales prompted the shutdown. The Chicago edition was launched in November by McGraw-Hill Cos. as a test for a regional edition.

Separately, in a nod toward an increasingly Web 2.0 world, BusinessWeek.com launched a new column called My Take, which will be written solely by BusinessWeek.com readers. The first column runs today.
