BuyMedia expands services, faces competition

Burlingame, Calif.--BuyMedia, Inc. said Tuesday it has reached more than 1,000 advertising agencies with its Internet-based trading exchange, BuyMedia.com, for purchasing radio commercial time. The company has a dominant presence in Internet sales of radio time, and is expanding into television and other media. Meanwhile, Conus Communications Co. L.P., St. Paul, Minn., said it has launched a national advertising sales firm called TVi Media, which uses Internet exchange technology to sell advertising on behalf of midsize television networks and program producers. AdExact Corp., Waterloo, Ont., said it has named former Federal Express Corp. electronic commerce marketing executive David Roussain as president-CEO. AdExact is selling a system that allows television stations to deliver targeted advertisements to digital television recipients.
