Buzzfeed to launch business vertical for social Web

New York—This spring, Buzzfeed will introduce a business section designed to leverage the power of the social Web. Peter Lauria, most recently Reuters’ editor for technology, media and telecom for the U.S., is joining Buzzfeed next month to lead the effort. “We’re bringing him in to do the kind of smart and original reporting that people want to read and share,” BuzzFeed Editor in Chief Ben Smith said in a statement. Buzzfeed, a social news site with more than 40 million unique monthly visitors, is powered by technology that detects what is trending on the Web and connects people in real time with the hottest content of the moment.
