Cahners to add e-commerce to its manufacturing Web site

Published on .

New York--Cahners Business Information announced Monday it plans to add e-commerce to its Manufacturing.Net Web site. To accomplish this, Cahners plans to form a new company with Mountain View, Calif.-based Aspect Development Inc., a b-to-b e-commerce company. Called Manufacturing.Net L.L.C., the new company will create an e-marketplace for the manufacturing industry. The venture will unite content with Cahners manufacturing publications and maintenance, repairs and operations product databases from Aspect. Through the e-marketplace the companies intend to create an e-commerce environment where industrial buyers can find, compare and purchase products on an open architecture. The move is consistent with Cahners' e-commerce approach, which has been to focus on content while finding partners to handle the e-commerce end of the transaction.
