Newton, Mass.--Cahners Business Information announced Monday it bought a 15% equity stake in PartMiner, New York, an electronic-commerce site for electronic original equipment manufacturers. The deal is estimated to be in the range of $15 million. As part of the deal, PartMiner will become the exclusive e-commerce provider of electronic components on Cahners e-inSite, a Web site that gleans content from Cahners' 17 electronics trade publications. e-inSite will provide links to PartMiner's Electronic Commerce Free Trade Zone, where visitors can research, source and buy electronic components. Additionally, PartMiner will have links to e-inSite and its electronics industry search engine, e-Wiz. PartMiner's Free Trade Zone is expected to open early next year.
