Cahners name dropped in favor of Reed

Published on .

New York--Deep-sixing a b-to-b media name that has been in place for decades, Cahners Business Information announced Tuesday that it has changed its name to Reed Business Information. The move is designed to more closely align the company, which publishes 135 business magazines, with its parent company, Reed Elsevier plc.

“This rebranding initiative driven by Reed Elsevier will further extend our market leadership position, as well as more effectively communicate the excellence of our products to global customers, suppliers, governments, trade associations and investors,” said Jim Casella, CEO of Reed Business Information U.S.

Cahners had experimented with using the Reed Elsevier name in the late 1990s but kept the Cahners name because of its brand equity in the U.S.
