Newton, Mass.--Employees at Cahners Business Information, which is suffering a decline in ad pages, are bracing for what they expect will be a round of job cuts, sources close to the company say. An internal e-mail, sent by Cahners management, told employees to expect an announcement in early August detailing changes at the company. Job cuts were not specifically mentioned in the e-mail, but some employees see firings as a logical next step, following a reshuffling of executive duties at the company in July and cutbacks in travel budgets at some publications. Cahners' decline in ad pages was cited by parent company Reed Elsevier plc as a reason for a profit warning issued to investors earlier this year. Cahners spokespeople declined to comment.
