Canada Post suspends mail delivery in wake of strikes

Published on .

Ottawa, Ontario—Canada Post Corp. has suspended operations in urban areas across Canada and blamed rotating strikes, now two weeks old, by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers. The partial lockout means that delivery of mail, including periodicals, will be disrupted across Canada. A bill is pending in Canada's Parliament that would end the work stoppage. Canada Post said its estimated losses are approaching $100 million.
