Montreal—Printing and publishing company Transcontinental Inc. is acquiring Rastar Inc., a privately owned direct marketing company based in Salt Lake City.

Rastar, with 350 employees, has annual revenue of about $50 million. Its clients include Coors Brewing Co., Hewlett-Packard Co. and O.C. Tanner.

Transcontinental, with 15,000 employees in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico, logged about $2.16 billion in revenue last year.

Transcontinental cited Rastar’s expertise in interactive database marketing as a key rationale for the acquisition.
