Carat Interactive buys Lot21 and Vizium

Boston--Carat Interactive Inc. announced the acquisition of Lot21 Inc., San Francisco, and Vizium, Framingham, Mass., in a deal that will combine the three companies under Carat Interactive. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Carat Interactive is owned by The Carat Group, a division of Aegis Group plc, London. Lot21 is an interactive marketing agency whose clients include Bank of America Corp., Adobe Systems Inc., Seagate Technology Inc. and Palm Inc. Vizium is an Internet marketing company whose clients include AT&T Broadband, Dun & Bradstreet Inc. and Autodesk Inc.

The acquisition adds digital media services, emerging technology and eCRM to Carat's interactive media services practices. The combined companies will have approximately 100 employees, with locations in Boston, New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Sarah Fay will remain president of Carat Interactive. Kate Everett-Thorp, CEO of Lot21, will become chairman of the combined companies. Eric Wheeler, president-COO of Lot21, will serve as COO, and Alan Osetek, president of Vizium, will become senior-VP of eCRM.
