Carat lowers total ad forecast

London—Media agency Carat revised its global ad spending forecast to 4.9% growth this year, down from a March projection of 6.0% growth, citing the weak economy.

However, Carat boosted its global online ad spending forecast to 23.7% growth this year, up from an earlier projection of 23.3% growth.

In North America, total ad spending is expected to grow 2.1% this year, down from a 3.8% forecast in March.

Carat also lowered its global ad spending forecast for next year to 4.9% growth, down from an earlier projection of 4.8% growth.

Global online ad spending will increase 18.6% next year, up slightly from an 18.0% forecast in March.
