Published on .

New York--About 26 million, or more than one in four, U.S. households have offices, according to research conducted by CDB Research & Consulting. Last year, about 20% of American households had a home office. About seven in 10 home offices are used to operate small businesses, which have become a burgeoning market for the office equipment industry. About 90% of home office households own a personal computer. Other office equipment is common in households that have home offices: 53% have color printers, 42% have fax machines and 33% have scanners.
