Published on .

Dallas—The exhibition industry grew 3.2% last year, according to the fifth annual Center for Exhibition Industry Research (CEIR) Index report, which was released Monday. The 2007 industry growth rate was below the 4.8% gain posted in 2006, but marked the fifth consecutive year of industry expansion.

More than 300 events contributed data for the report, which provides exhibition industry performance data for 11 key industry sectors. These sectors include building, construction, home and repair; medical and health care; raw materials and science; and communications and information technology.

From 2000 through 2007 all four of the key exhibition industry metrics rose: net square feet (+3.1%), revenue (+3.1%), attendees (+2.0%) and exhibitors (+1.5%). Last year saw gains in all four categories: revenue (+6.8%), attendees (+4.9%), exhibitors (+0.9%) and net square feet (+0.3%).

Media investment bank Jordan, Edmiston Group provided the analysis of exhibition performance for the industry sectors covered in the report.
