CEIR Index shows continued decline in trade shows

Published on .

Dallas—The Center for Exhibition Industry Research Index posted its ninth consecutive quarter of decline in the second quarter of this year, CEIR announced last week. The index showed an overall decline of 1.4% in the second quarter compared with the year-earlier period.

The CEIR Index includes four trade show metrics: revenue, net square feet of exhibit space, number of exhibitors and attendance.

Revenue dropped 4.4%, a slower rate of decline than the 16.9% decline last year. Similarly, both net square feet and the number of exhibitors declined 3.0%.

Professional attendance, however, showed a positive trend, increasing 4.5%.
